Schoolcraft Family Recovery Fund

My name is Carolyn Valade Hansen and I teach third grade in Athens, Ohio along with my teaching partner Kate Huffman.  As a mother, wife and teacher I must tell you about a student in our class and her family who needs your help.
Natalie Schoolcraft is a bright-eyed 9 year old little girl.  Being hearing impaired presents challenges in her young life which she handles with a positive attitude and joyful spirit.  Natalie has two older brothers, and although the children live with their mother, they regularly spent time with their father.
School being cancelled on the morning of January 6th, Natalie's mother Melany left her oldest son, high school freshman Isaiah, home with the younger children Corbin and Natalie.  Shortly after leaving the house Melany received a call from Isaiah that the power was out.  She instructed him to take his siblings outside to check the wood burner.  When Isaiah opened his bedroom door, black smoke started filling the room.  He was unaware that flames had taken over the 200 year old farmhouse that belonged to his great grandparents.  Carrying his sister Natalie and grabbing his brother Corbin, Isaiah was able to get his siblings out of the house safely.  The house was a total loss with no insurance.
Already working two jobs to support her family, Melany was faced with the daunting task (without any insurance money) of trying to find a safe home for her children, keeping them focused on their studies and reassuring them that the nightmare was behind them...tragically, this was not the case.  On Sunday, February 2nd Natalie, Isaiah and Corbin lost their father in a fatal automobile accident.
Since the fire and the accident, an acquaintance offered the family a small place to live in until the end of April.  We are trying to raise money to offset the expenses coming directly from renting a home in a safe neighborhood, providing basic needs for three children and trying to reestablish the family life these children and their mother had before these life changing events occurred.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.  Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you.
