Help Carole Fight Cancer

My name is Carole Means and I need help paying for treatment as I fight to live. In October 2012, I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (a rare, aggressive and evasive form of breast cancer). Before I was over the shock of the diagnosis, I was rushed into chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. For months, I was either sitting in a chemo chair suffering horribly and telling my family I can't do this anymore or lying on my "cancer couch" trying to cope with side effects. Finally the good news of remission! I was still having painful side effects but at least the cancer was gone. In March 2014, I had a biopsy after noticing a red spot on my surgical site. It was confirmed the cancer was back. PET scan showed it had spread to my chest and under both arms, which determined I was at stage 4. I was offered the same chemo etc. as the first time, but I knew I couldn't do that again. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." Albert Einstein  I am not insane-YET!

Thinking that was the end for me, I started to get my life in order and made plans to visit the people that mean the most to me. Then dear friends in the medical field told me about IV Vitamin C infusions. A solution that doesn't destroy my body? WOW! I talked to my surgeon about it and he was infuriated with me that I would even consider anything but chemo/drugs. That I could have an opinion about my own health infurated him even more. He even compared the Vitamin C infusions to "standing in front of a bus and waiting to get hit". Two weeks of intensive research and phone calls trying to find someone who does this treatment in my area resulted in tears, frustration and dead ends. Time and time again, I wanted to give up but I was determined to salvage my quality of life as well as pave the way so that others have an easier time getting the treatment they want. Trying to get help that doesn't kill our bodies shouldn't be this hard.

I finally found a medical center that routinely administers this treatment and I have an appointment April 15.This is where I need your help. Insurance does not cover healthy solutions so I have to pay 100% of all costs. My first consultation with the doctor will cost $388. Each infusion will be approximately $160 and I will need 3-4 infusions per week to start. I also need to take several supplements along with that to fight cancer and build up my immune system. The cost of this is over $300 a month. So as you can see, a person cannot do this alone. It will take a village. The bare minimum to cover infusions and supplements is almost $37,000 a year. This does not include doctor's fees, transportation, and other expenses incurred while in treatment.
