On March 28th, the Pocahontas Area Community mock trial program won the Iowa High School Mock Trial State Tournament and will now represent the Pocahontas area community, AND the entire state of Iowa at the National High School Mock Trial Tournament in Madison, Wisconsin on May 8-10. The nine students heading to nationals are: Derek Duitscher (sr), Maggie Hallman (sr), Melanie Nesbitt (sr), Kate Vonnahme (jr), Nick Wiemers (jr), Parker Aden (so), Ayla Nelson (so), Kara Neumann (so), and Amanda Von Dolteren (so).
All donations to this account will go directly to fund the students' transportation, lodging, food, and any other materials needed to compete at the national tournament. Should there be extra money raised, it will go to help fund future years of the mock trial program.
Pocahontas mock trial has a long and proud history of success. This year's state title marks the sixth time in Iowa's 32-years of mock trial that Pocahontas has won -- tying it with the most of any single program in the state. The last time Pocahontas won the state title and advanced to nationals was in 2001. In that year, the team won the national title and this team has similar aspirations.
Please consider donating ANY amount and help these students as they prepare to travel to Madison, Wisconsin as reprsentatives of both Pocahontas Area Community and the State of Iowa!
If you would prefer to donate directly to the school, or would rather donate via Paypal or with a check (as this website does take a small cut of donations), then please contact us through this page and we will help you with these other options.
Thank you for all your continued support of Pochaontas Area Community mock trial. The pride truly is in the tradition.
