Approximately 5 months ago my dad was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, cancer of the larynx. My parents had health insurance that they thought would cover this major medical condition. Like so many people, they trusted their agent to make sure they were taken care of. However, this was not the case. My dad is an amazing man. He would and has always been one who would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need, even if it meant him having to struggle afterwards. He was always a provider, working 2 and 3 jobs to support our family. I have never seen my dad sick, never missing work, always doing whatever necessary to make family, friends, and strangers alike, happy. Therefore, I feel like, as his daughter, it is my responsibility to return the love, help, and support. My mom and dad have a love like no other, untouchable, unstoppable. So when insurance failed, without question, they took their life savings out of the bank and started work towards his healing. What good is a life savings without a life, right? The money they had, does not even begin to scratch the surface of all the treatment/medical costs. Anyone who has ever experienced this disease, either yourself or a loved one, knows the mental, physical, and financial struggle. I am here advocating for my dad and his life, asking for any help possible to assist in getting them through this process. I truly have faith and believe that God will provide a way. I know this for so many reasons but in this moment I know this, because he lead me here to be able to ask for help. Thank you all who are willing to donate, showing such acts of selflessness and kindness. I sincerely hope one day, I, my family, can return the favor. God bless.
