A Bike for Josh

This is Josh. He is our 15year old happy and active boy. Josh has Autism, and is mostly non-verbal. He can tell you which video he wants to watch or what snack he wants, but isn't able to tell you how his day was at school or if something hurts. He can also tell you "outside," which he says often!

Josh is almost always in motion and loves gross-motor activities like jumping on the trampoline, running and climbing. He loves going for rides. We used to pull him in the child bike trailer even after he outgrew it. He would ask for "bike ride!"




Being the sensory-seeker he is, Josh would really benefit from regular bike rides. Josh can ride a trike independently, but not for an extended period. The solution is a tandem tricycle! As with all special needs items, this type of bike comes with a steep price tag and insurance doesn't cover it.
