Get Rachel to Barcelona

Most that know me are aware that I have played soccer since the age of 6. Thanks to my mom always supporting me and pushing me to be responsible, make good grades, keep a positive attitude and outlook I was able to become a member of the Maryville College "Fighting Lady Scots" in Maryville Tennessee.

I never dreamed that I could be playing soccer and experiencing college life in the beautiful state of Tennessee. Just in my first year of college as a freshman soccer player I was honored one week during my first season with being named, "Defensive Player of the South". I also made "2nd Team All Conference" just in my first year of playing college soccer. I am fortunate enough to have a mother that has always, is always and will always do whatever is necessary to make sure my needs come before hers. My mother actually packed up everything we owned and thanks to her boyfriend, Dennis (I call him DAD) she moved to Kentucky to be as near to me as possible while I attend college and play soccer.

Being a member of the "Fighting Lady Scots" has allowed me to be given a once in a lifetime oppertunity to travel with my team to Barcelona, Spain for 13 days and 11 nights of sight seeing and training with top notch teams and trainers. The cost of this trip just for me is approximately $3,700.00 which my mom and dad have already been scrimping and saving to make payments on. This is a huge task for my mom and dad because since the move to Kentucky my mom has come up with some medical issues of her own that she has put aside to make sure my college and trip are paid for.

On the night of March 13th I was playing in an Intramural Basketball game and obtained a devestating injury. An MRI confirmation told us I had completely torn my ACL and require surgery to reconstruct and replace it. My surgery is April 4th. Since my injury happened playing something other than soccer our school's insurance is not able to cover the cost of the surgery and my mom and dad have to do so which is making it harder for them to put money towards the cost of my trip.

I would love to go out and offer my services to do things for people to raise money for myself such as babysit, housework, yard work. Unfotunately with me being in Tennessee and now needing to concentrate on working my butt off at rehab to be able to play when our fall season starts I cannot go out and find jobs to raise the money I need to go on the trip. This is why I have come to this site and set up an account to ask friends and family for help.

I want to thank you for reading my story and please take the time to watch my video of my season from this past year. If you are not able to help with a donation any and all prayers for my recovery and ability to go to Barcelona is greatly appreciated and no donation is to small if you find yourself in a situation where you are able to help.

My promise to everyone is that I WILL FIGHT to rehabilitate myself and continue to play soccer and hopefully maybe one day you can see me playing in the World Cup or Olympics.
