Volunteering to treat Lymphedema Haiti

Thank you so much for stopping by. I am raising funds for training and travel to Haiti to help treat people stricken a preventable condition that causes abnormal swelling and disfigurement.
The woman on my facebook profile is being treated by a volunteer. She is suffering from an advanced case of Lymphedema known as Filariasis caused by worm infested mosquitoes.
Filariasis is a form of Lymphedema which is preventable! With medication, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Compression Bandaging, limb reduction is possible.
Lymphedema in developed nations is primarily caused by cancer therapies which remove or damage lymph nodes and their pathways which cause swelling (edema) in one or more limbs. Even here in the US, if Lymphedema is not treated it too will progress to Elephantiasis (like the movie from the 70s, Elephant Man) as it does in these tropical regions.
