<div>mein Name ist Paul und ich stehe gerade vor der schwersten Herausforderung meines Lebens. Nachdem ich bereits meine Wohnung und meinen Hund verloren habe, habe ich all meine Kraft und Hoffnung in meinen großen Traum gesteckt: ein Hausboot.

<div>Im März habe ich mir diesen Traum im Elsass erfüllt – eine 12 Meter lange Hafenbarkasse von 1940, mit der ich nach Berlin fahren wollte, um dort ein neues Leben aufzubauen.

<div>Schon zweimal habe ich versucht, das Boot Richtung Heimat zu überführen – beide Male ohne Erfolg. Nach viel Arbeit lief der alte Mercedes-Dieselmotor zwar wieder, doch auf der Fahrt kam es bei Rüdesheim zu einem schweren Zwischenfall: Wir liefen bei niedrigem Wasserstand auf einen Felswall. Abschleppversuche scheiterten, und am Ende musste uns das DLRG an Land bringen.

<div>Da das Boot festlag, blieb mir nichts anderes übrig, als auf steigende Wasserstände zu hoffen. Nach rund anderthalb Wochen meldete sich schließlich das Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt Bingen und ließ das Boot mit einem Schwimmkran bergen. Die Rechnung in Höhe von 25.000 bis 30.000 Euro wurde mir als eingetragenem Eigner zugestellt.

<div>Für mich ist das ein schwerer Schlag. Nach einem sehr harten Jahr hatte ich alles in dieses Boot gesteckt, um es nach Berlin zu bringen und dort einen Neuanfang zu wagen. Jetzt stehe ich vor einer kaum zu bewältigenden Rechnung, die ich alleine nicht stemmen kann.

<div>My name is Paul, and I am currently facing the greatest challenge of my life. After already losing my home and my dog, I put all my strength and hope into my biggest dream: a houseboat.

<div>In March, I made that dream come true in Alsace – a 12-meter harbor launch built in 1940, which I wanted to bring to Berlin to start a new life there.

<div>Twice I tried to move the boat home – both times without success. After a lot of work I finally managed to get the old Mercedes diesel running again, but on the journey we had a serious incident near Rüdesheim: at low water levels the boat ran onto a rock wall. Towing attempts failed, and in the end the German rescue service (DLRG) had to bring us ashore.

<div>With the boat stuck fast, my only option was to wait for higher water levels. After about a week and a half, the Waterways and Shipping Authority of Bingen stepped in and arranged for the boat to be lifted with a floating crane. The invoice of 25,000 to 30,000 euros was issued directly to me as the registered owner.

<div>This has been a devastating blow. After a very hard year I had invested everything I had into this boat to bring it to Berlin and start over. Now I am faced with a bill I cannot possibly pay on my own.
</div>

<div>That is why I am asking for help here. Every contribution – whether a donation or simply sharing this campaign – helps me not to lose my dream completely.
