Diane Villarreal's family fund

As I am sure many of you have heard, Val's mom died unexpectedly this week. She was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer two weeks ago, and died of a complication from it, quite suddenly on Monday. It was all very sudden and quite a shock.
Services are today from 3-4:15 pm, at the Sky Rose Chapel, at the Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier. A casual reception will follow at 9027 Myron Street, Pico Rivera, CA 90660. It will be a good time for us to be there to support Val and celebrate her mom's life.
Also, I know several of you have asked is there is anything you can do, and if there is a memorial being set up. Given the huge cost of end of life care, Val has been hit with a slew of bills. As the only child of a single mom, she is the person responsible for them. We decided that en lieu of flowers, one thing that would be much more helpful and long lasting would be to set up a fund to help her defray some of those costs. Please do not feel obligated to give donations, but if you want to do something, this is a good way to do it.

Obituary bio: Diane Denise Villarreal:
On August 17, 1956 Diane was born to Bill and Anna Biggs in Montebello, CA. Growing up Diane was a Girl Scout, loved going to the matinee movies and playing dress up. She attended Wilcox Elementary, graduated from Schurr High School in 1974, and continued at East Los Angeles College. She worked for many years as a clerical assistant at General Electric in El Monte.
In 1983 she married Demetrio Villarreal and gave birth to her only child, Valerie Rose Villarreal. Diane dedicated her life to being a great Mom, guiding Valerie's path toward education and service to others. Valerie was her pride and joy.
Diane worked for Sanford Photography Studio as a receptionist for nearly the last fifteen years. She was a loyal employee who still greeted co-workers with a hug, and customers with a smile.
Diane enjoyed karaoke, playing Bingo, card games, Country music concerts, Mexican food restaurants, and most of all, being with friends. She was quite shy from the spot light, but was witty, had a great laugh and smirk that warmed so many hearts of the ones she loved.
Diane is survived by her only daughter, Valerie Villarreal; sister, Joanne Puentes; brother, James (Irene) Baca; and sister, Linda (and Steve) Owens.
