Help Sofie Fight Cancer

We are reaching out and asking for your help to support Sofie during her fight against cancer! We hope that every dollar raised will help alleviate some of the financial stress for her and her family as they face mounting medical bills.

Sofie Goodman, was recently diagnosed with large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. She is only 19 years old and a second-year Child Development major at Saddleback college and plans to transfer to CSUF to obtain her bachelors.

After months of hospital visits, blood tests, and excruciating back and stomach pain, the doctors finally diagnosed her with cancer. She’s had back pain for months and was doing physical therapy, but it did not help with the pain. Then, she was experiencing abdominal pain and went to the Emergency Room at the beginning of January at Hoag Irvine Hospital. She was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and sent home.

A couple days later, her pain moved areas and she was experiencing extreme sharp pains in her upper abdomen. She went to Saddleback Emergency Room and the Doctor ordered a CT scan. They found three masses on her spine and admitted her to the hospital for testing. That next morning she got an endoscopy and 2 peptic ulcers were discovered. She is in the process of healing those.

The hospital did a bone biopsy of her sacrum and 2 weeks later, she received a call from her doctor saying she has large B-cell lymphoma.

She went to see an oncologist/hematologist at Saddleback Memorial and City of Hope to see which one can treat her condition sooner. A final decision regarding treatment has not been made, but we will continue to update this page with her journey. Thankfully, this type of lymphoma is very responsive to chemotherapy, and we hope she goes into remission after 3-6 rounds.

Her family needs our help during this difficult time to off-set the costs of the emergency room visits, doctors appointments, chemotherapy, travel expenses and her on-going treatment.
