Art and I driving cross country to Oregon and Art will be riding his bicycle from Oregon to Connecticut.  We were not thinking of doing this as a fundraiser until a month ago when we decided to make this a really worthwhile trip by creating two fundraisers.  We are raising funds for Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation and Lt. Bill Manning Scholarship Foundation  Please follow our blog at www.artscrosscountry.com

Lt. Bill Manning is my son who died from a motorcycle accident on May 16, 2013.  Bill joined the Air Force in 1992 and in 1996 he was deployed to Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and received the Air Force Commendation with Valor.  Bill left the Air Force with an honorable discharge in 2004.  Bill was an 11-year member of the Kissimmee Fire Department as a firefighter and paramedic.  In September of 2012 Bill was promoted to Lieutenant.  Bill has traveled throughout the state of Florida teaching fire related courses and also taught as an Instructor at the Central Florida Fire Academy. Bill was a big supporter of encouraging firefighters to get further education in firefighting.  Because of this foundation two people are being sponsored through paramedic school. Bill was also a Firefighter for Kaman in Bloomfield which was under the leadership of Charles and Robbie Kaman who started Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation.
