Support for Rian

If you know Rian, you know what a wonderful young man he is and how hard he has fought to get to where he is today. When he was 7 years old, he said he wanted to serve his country in one of the most elite units of the military. When asked why, he said he wanted to "kill bad guys" (remember, he was 7) and defend those who couldn't defend themselves. He covered the walls of his room with things that would motivate him to pursue this goal. In the years that followed, life got tough, and there were many moments when it seemed it would never happen. However, Rian has always been a fighter and a really determined young man, so he decided to fight for it. He made sacrifices and tough decisions, including moving 1,000 miles away from friends and family to find the help he needed to prepare. It took a while, but as soon as he was guaranteed a shot at pursuing what he desired, he enlisted. With a lot of blood, sweat and tears from him and so many who love and support him, he is now nearing the end of the selection process to serve his country in the way he dreamed of 15 years ago. What a journey it has been.

The car in this picture is near and dear to Rian. He paid for it in cash he earned working as an electrician assistant, and he loves it. However, at 15 years old and with 170,000 miles, it is starting to nickel and dime him with repairs. He also admits, albeit reluctantly, it is no longer practical given his career path, and has decided he needs to replace it. However, his current pay and the cost of living where he is stationed makes it nearly impossible for him to save much or afford a reasonable car payment. If you or someone you know is in the military, you know what we mean. So, we are trying to raise financial support to help Rian buy a newer, more practical vehicle to serve him for the many years he will be serving us.

He is planning on visiting with us during the Christmas holiday, and we would love to surprise him by taking him car shopping. You are likely seeing this because you know and love Rian, but you could also help by promoting this effort amongst people whom you know. Although some will give much, just giving up a latte or 2 between now and Christmas would help Rian so much. Thank you in advance for anything you are willing to give and for helping to bless Rian in such a special way this Christmas. Thank you and God bless.

PS - If you leave a comment, please do not leave anything specific to where Rian is or what he is doing. This is really important. Thank you.
