Funeral expenses

As many of you know, Mom passed away recently from complications due to a tick bite. A gofundme campaign was created by my "friend" on 6/30/17, to raise money for Mom's funeral expenses. Unfortunately, that friend withdrew all of the money raised (almost $1500) and kept it for herself, totaling 6 separate withdraws from 7/6-7/14. The campaign ended on 7/20/17. This is all money from OUR family and friends that she stole.
My family and I still have not received a single cent from the previous campaign. I filed a police report as soon as I found out about the theft because it is required as part of gofundme's guarantee policy. According to gofundme, it is that friend's "intention" to refund the money back to the donors. However, to date, the money still has not been returned by the thief and I cannot get definitive answers from gofundme on anything. So now it's just a waiting game..
A financial burden is only added stress on an already difficult time. If we raise enough money, not only will we be able to pay off Mom's funeral expenses, but we can also afford to continue paying an attorney to ensure that the previous campaign organizer who stole the money will be held accountable for her actions in the legal sense. As much as I would love to be able to make her pay for this, I cannot consciously go in more debt to do this and ultimately take away from my children.
Please consider donating and I promise you, the funds will go straight to my family as I am the one who has created this campaign. More importantly, please pray for that friend who stole as I know that she is going through a difficult time now that the cat is out of the bag. I do not wish her harm but wish that she uses this as a wake up call to make some positive changes in her life as she is also a mother.
