Help Miraheze stay online!

Miraheze was started in 2015 for the purpose of providing free and accessible online collaborative and editing environments to communities, organisations and individuals alike. From day 1, Miraheze has prided itself in investing all funds back into improving the service provided, being led by stakeholders and fighting for the right to distribute content without censorship. Our objective is to innovate the wiki hosting industry, providing an entirely unique and cutting edge service to allow communities and organisations to unlock the real potential behind collaborative editing environments - and then to advance the way in which information is distributed across the world, ensuring everyone can access information our stakeholders wish to share.

What's the Current Situation?
Miraheze has outgrown the capabilities of the infrastructure we've built over the past four and a half years. High costs (nearing £230/month) with low flexibility mean Miraheze is underutilising significant amounts of resources in order to gain access to the other resources we require to run critical parts of our infrastructure. As a result, the performance of the service is regularly degraded during peak traffic time as an inflexible infrastructure attempts to handle significant increases in user traffic or intensive administrative requests from communities using the service. A high operating budget means we are unable to regularly invest in new software and capacity improvements without risking the long-term sustainability of the service.

A Plan to Prosper
We've developed a cost-effective and flexible plan to improve the infrastructure we use to operate Miraheze. The main issue is it requires an initial investment of approximately £850 to purchase hardware for a new infrastructure platform. With this, we'd have a never experience before the level of flexibility to build an extremely resource-efficient platform for our communities to grow and prosper on. Sustaining this new infrastructure would cost approximately £170 a month - a £60 decrease in our current monthly costs.

Is Donating Worth It?
Yes, it is definitely worth it, regardless of the donation being £1 or £100. Your donation helps to keep an important collaboration platform free, fast and online for dozens of universities, educational workings groups and other not-for-profit communities. To put in perspective, if each unique visitor (Miraheze has about 45000 unique visitors each day) donated £0.07 once, we have already reached our goal. Reaching or exceeding our goal does not have to be the work of a few people donating a lot, many people donating a little is even better!
