Bruce’s Story…

CANCER. This is something Bruce and I never thought we would be going through. We are a couple deeply in love with each other, our family, friends and life! We have endured much pain and loss in our lives but have always felt that loving the Lord and living by the golden rule would give us a long and happy life!!! We adore our family and friends and would do anything for anyone we are capable of.

This diagnosis is something that we never thought would happen, but IT'S HAPPENING and we are scared! He's an amazing, kind, strong and loving husband, father, son, grandson, brother and friend.

Bruce's diagnosis began with finding of an enlarged lymph node on the left side of his neck just beneath his jaw bone. Without this enlarged lymph node, he had no outward (or inward) signs of having cancer, just caught up in work/family and the craziness of life. This discovery was 2 weeks ago and it has been a whirlwind of activities since. The CAT Scan showed it was possibly squamous cell carcinoma in his lymph node. The next step was a fine needle biopsy. After this test came the PET scan that showed cancer in his tonsils and lymph nodes of the neck. He is required to have immediate surgery on December 21 to remove his tonsils and a radical neck dissection to remove the lymph nodes in his neck. We are hoping that the surgeon will successfully remove all of the cancer. We are praying no radiation or chemo will be needed after surgery, but only time will tell. We still have a long, tough road ahead with recovery and therapy... but we are determined to beat this!

We are so blessed to have so many amazing family and friends on our side and WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Our Copper Mountain, CO family is truly the best and has made our lives better because of ALL OF YOU...Keep praying and sending positive vibes our way…

Bruce will be on leave from work for awhile during his recovery and I will be by his side every step of the way. I would like to reach out anyone out there who is able to donate to raise money to offset some financial relief for our family. If you can't donate, please be so kind to send prayers our way. For years I've watched such a wonderful husband, father, son and friend, help so many others by just being a strong, supportive and giving man and I wouldn't have imagined that something like this would happen to him. We have a scary road ahead of us and truly appreciate everyone who loves and supports us each day. His only Christmas wish is to have another Christmas…”
