On August 31st, my sister Denise had a mass removed from her stomach.  Which they thought was a boil or cyst.  She then received the call from her doctor regarding the biopsy results. The call she dreaded to get. He told her the mass was cancerous, and to follow up with him. She went to see him on Tuesday. He mentioned that the cat scan they took prior to surgery showed a mass on liver and in left kidney.  He said they removed the mass,  and they believe they got it all,  but she still had the other spots  they needed to work on now.  He told her to contact an oncologist.    With the help of a friend we got her in to see the oncologist on Thursday.  He told her it was Soft Cell Sarcoma, a rare cancer.  Since it is rare he wants to get a second opinion.   Which is being scheduled at UIC. She will be getting her port for chemotherapy  in the next few weeks along with some other tests she needs to get done prior to starting treatment.  To make matters worse,  Denise just started working for a company,  since her last company closed their doors.   On Friday, September 14th, they let her go due to them downsizing.  So it just added to the stress of her life.  Luckily her husband carries the insurance,  but it isn't the best and only covers a percentage,  plus there is a co pay for every visit to doctors she will be seeing from this day forward.    Denise is a graduate of St. Barbara Elementary(1983) And High School(1987).  She is active at St.Barbara Parish.  We have chaired the Parish Carnival together,  and are looking forward to our 5th one in 2019.  She is married with two sons, the youngest Brandon being 12 years old.  Any donation to help with medical bills, which are already piling up, would greatly be appreciated. We are planning a few fundraisers to help Denise with her medical bills.  Denise has a long road ahead of her,  and with the support of her family and friends she will fight this ugly disease.
