Our primary goal in Graphic Communications department here at Chowan University is to train highly motivated individuals to enter the printing industry. We've been engaged in that process since 1952. With thousands of graduates scattered over sixty plus years we are proud of the impact we have had, and are having on the printing industry.
But we can't do it without your support. As part of our process to recruit young people into our program (and ultimately the printing industry), we started a Graphic Arts Summer Camp in 1992. For one week each summer 15-20 junior high students from around the country get the full college experience topped off with a large dose of printing and digital knowhow. All this, room, board and lab experience, are at a cost of $150 per student. Our cost is $600 per student. Industry support offsets the costs for future graphic communications employees to attend.
Of the 300 plus students who have gone through our Summer Camp program fully 10% have graduated with their four years in Graphic Communications from Chowan University, and are now working throughout the country in variety of career paths. But we can't do it without industry support.
