Heart to Heart

Amy and Brett are two of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Blessed with a beautiful son and then faced with the challenges of Autism, Amy and Brett are strong and dedicated to helping their son and other families who have been faced with the same challenges. Amy became pregnant in November and was thrilled and frightened all at the same time. Amy suffers from Hyperemesis Gravidarum which is a rare condition that causes a pregnant woman to be violently ill and incapable of many things. After 4 months of enduring sickness and being out on disability from her 4th grade teaching position, Amy and Brett were excited to share that they are expecting a baby boy. Just a few weeks later they were slammed with devastating news that their unborn baby was diagnosed with an extremely rare heart defect. This heart defect means that her child will need immediate open heart surgery following his birth. This is only one of three surgeries that the baby will need before he is two years old. All medical procedures will be performed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, including her delivery. Our goal is to raise enough money to take away some of the financial worry that this family is already enduring. If our goal is reached we might be able to give Amy the blessing of being at home with her new baby, for his journey of surgeries and not having financial worry on their shoulders.
