"Engage the Crisis"

God has given me the gift of dance and it has impacted my life in so many ways. For me, dance has served as a confident booster, a way to escape life, and an avenue to discover self. Movement itself is a tool used to empower and build self-confidence. The same passion and gift God has bestowed upon me, I desire to give to others. I am pasisonate about using dance as an tool for outreach.

Over the past seven years I have had the opportunity to work with many inner-city youths and witness how dance can serve as a medium in transforming lives. My dedication and commitment to serve inner"“city youth inspires me to travel the world and empower low-income communities through artistic expression. I am thrilled to serve diverse communities in Bangalore, India from various walks of life. Through devoting time for social justice such as visiting slum schools and ministering to orphans ties directly to my thesis research. My research focuses on how artistic expression can help underprivileged youth establish a voice, embrace authenticity, and build self-confidence.

Antioch Community Service Project is sending college students to serve at various orphanages and communities in India. This collaboration creates a sustainable alliance and informs my applied project by allowing me to understand the administrative and creative resources necessary to build my own program interacting with economically disadvantaged children within diverse communities. India population has an estimated of 269.3 million people, of which 216.5 million lives in poverty. A country such as this is crucial to my research and correlates well with the populations and demographics that I desire to gather data from.

Forging connections with Indian youth to foster global awareness and intercultural understanding is something I look forward to. This type of community cultural development also strengthens my education as a socially engaged artist and the core of my creative inquiry. Immersion in a new cultural context will provide perspective to gain increased insight about dance and foster relationships as a tool of empowerment.

I hope you can support. I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you for you're time! God bless.
