Bowie's Veterinary Bills

On Sunday, March 23rd, immediately following an amazing class and puppy play time, five month old Bowie was tragically struck by a car in the parking lot. His mom, Traci rushed him to the Drake Center and from there to the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley. Bowie fought an amazing fight yesterday, but unfortunately his injuries were too grave and he passed over the Rainbow Bridge. Traci was with him through every moment making sure that he was bathed in her love.
Thank you to the Drake Center for sending a Vet Tech with Bowie for the ride to Sorrento Valley - providing needed oxygen support and monitoring. Although Bowie could not ultimately fight past his critical injuries, it was a true blessing to have Traci able to talk to him and keep him aware of her love throughout the drive to the Veterinary Specialty Hospital.
On Sunday afternoon at approximately 5:30pm, Bowie made his journey over the Rainbow Bridge. Traci is grieving, shocked and heartbroken. There are significant veterinary bills and we are reaching out to our community of dog lovers, friends and family to help ease the financial burden for her.
We will also be holding a fundraiser and petitioning for better signage and vehicle movement in our parking lot. We do feel that there could be improvements that would aid in an increase in pedestrian safety - whether traveling on two feet or four feet.
Bowie made an impression on all that knew him in his short time with us. He was an amazing defensive player in the Puppy Bowl - effectively thwarting Winne from scoring multiple touchdowns. He had an a fantastic nose touch and even a "leave it" with a treat on his paw. He was a slayer of giants as shown in video and photos of his take down of Arwen, the Great Dane puppy - Bowie had no awareness of the fact that he was only 1/10th of Arwen's size.
