They do NOT know I am starting this go fund me. I spoke to Nicola Thursday 12.17.2020 and he was fighting back tears praying for the businesses to be able to open. They told me to stay in business and make sure about half of their staff can stay on board through the end of the year, he and his wife had to put in a ton of their personal savings they had been working years to save to buy a house.
This broke my heart. I am going to do whatever I can to help them stay in business. Too many families are relying on these restaurants. Nicola told me he was told that filing bankruptcy may be smart right now. To which he responded - what about all my employees?
They have done everything right and have been dealt a losing hand.
Below is a summary from Nicola on his two restaurants:
Mistura Restaurant & Catering and Mama's Meatball Italian restaurant are family owned businesses in San Luis Obispo that, like many others, are feeling the severe effects of this Pandemic. Unfortunately we have had to lay off our entire staff from both of our restaurants with the exception of some brave and humble Chefs still willing to serve their community.
In and effort to stay open to be providers of alternative kinds of nourishment for the community so people can spend this time in their homes with their families, we ask humbly that you please generously support our staff members we have had to lay off and are no longer receiving any wages. We ask this to our community and extended further beyond to anyone this may reach to support our working staff to ensure their survival during this time.
Please continue to support us so we can ensure our survival as a restaurant and catering service specializing in Italian and Peruvian Gastronomy in a innovative mix of traditional and contemporary cuisine.
