MEDICAL BILLS, HOSPITAL STAY

Donation protected
My Grandson Logan is again in the hospital facing another brain surgery.  This will be surgery #16 since he was born.  Here is his story:

Logan was born on August 8, 2008 (8 weeks early) with a condition called Gastroscesis.  This means his intestines were on the outside of his body. Had this been the only issue he had to deal with, his stay in the NICU would have only been a few weeks, not 7 1/2 months.  While in the NICU, Logan contracted bacterial meningitisis. This caused a serious brain bleed, which lead to major scarring in the brain, which lead to Logan being hydrosaphlic (fluid on the brain) and having to have a shunt put into his brain to drain off the excess fluids.  The meningitisis also left Logan completely deaf. Over the course of the next few months, Logan had 2 additional brain bleeds, which lead to having the shunt revised and another new one put in. A nurse at the hospital put an IV in Logans foot and went to lunch. The IV was not in a vein and the TPN (the nutrients keeping Logan alive) ate through the tissue, muscle and tendons on the top of his foot.  Logan was eventually put on a feeding tube and we were told he would never eat on his own, sit up, walk or have any basic functions of a child his age. Logan proved ALL the doctors wrong! He is now 5 years old, in kindergarten, walks, runs, signs and his one of the happiest little guys I know!  Last week it was discovered that the shunt draining brain fluid into his chest cavity was malfunctioning. Logan will go into surgery at the end of this week to put a new (the 3rd one) shunt into his brain.

Logan's parents, Seth and Jenn are staying with Logan while he is in Boston Children's Hospital. He will be in the hospital for at least 2 weeks.  This is causing a hardship on them, as Seth doesn't want to leave Logan in case (God forbid!) something were to happen to him. Seth has been unable to work.  Between the cost of parking in Boston (you would think parents got free parking while their kids were in the hospital!), food (they don't feed the parents either!) and the loss of income from Seth's employment, they are finding themselves in a tight financial situation.

The money raised will be used for: parking, food, gas (traveling back home to get extra clothes/toys for Logan) and to cover their rent/bills due to loss of income.

Thank you all so much for your support!
