Harvey's Tale of 2 Tales

Donation protected
After leaving film school and quitting his job as a bartender, Harvey created a web tv series in 2008 entitled, "Harvey's Kitchen" inviting bands from all over the country to perform in his tiny upstairs apartment kitchen in Greensboro, NC.  It was hot and often close to miserable for the performers and was watched by over half a million people from all over the world.  You can catch a few episodes here, including an episode with Jack Antonoff from the band FUN.  In the first 12 months Harvey shot 78 sessions.  It was an absolutely insane existence of cellos and dirty dishes.

Fast forward a couple of years.

Over the past 36 months he has been self-financing two feature length documentaries: one on the great American sculptor Leonardo Drew and the other, for a shorter period,  about the band Langhorne Slim and the Law on their quest to grasp the great brass ring in the sky.

Both documentaries involve unprecedented access, sleep deprivation, and the occasional moment of exhiliration that comes from being in the right place at the right time.

Here's a little musical interlude he shot at the Fillmore in Charlotte, NC.

Many thanks for watching that, if you did.  A few of those moments will appear in the "All My Friends Got Crooked Tails" documentary.  Okay, moving on ...

With your contribution, he'll be able to pay bills, acquire much needed hard drive space, recording media and a backup camera.  You'll also walk a little taller, be more attractive and people will give you wistful-sidelong-glances before they check to see if their socks match and their breath is minty because today you're just a tiny bit more beautiful.

Harvey is currently an Artist-In-Residence at the Elsewhere Living Museum, a 2011 nominee for the Betty Cone Medal of the Arts, co-creator of the Great Monkeywhale Experiment and a student of both the Maine Media Workshops and the North Carolina School of the Arts School of Filmmaking.  His work has been featured in and on Rolling Stone, Paste Magazine, NPR World Cafe, Mashable.com, and The Wall Street Journal.

In the unlikely event that the goal is exceeded Harvey will apply those funds to hiring an editor for the purposes of logging footage when the need arises.
