The Fire that took Everything

Donation protected
It is better to go through life holding hands. Sometimes another’s hand can support us as we stumble, and at other times we can be the rock, that holds them up.

Two years ago, Arvind went through a very serious illness. As he lay unmoving and unthinking in his hospital bed, his daughters, family and friends held hands and prayed that his life would be spared. They sat by his side for weeks waiting for him to awaken. He did awaken, and then slowly, very slowly began to heal. It took more than a year to regain some of his strength, and to walk and drive. He became disabled, unable to work, with his home-based business destroyed, and his money consumed by living he continued to strive, and to work towards recovery. There was still determination, hope, and food, and shelter.

On the night of December 4, 2017 with the night sky aglow from the fires raging around Ventura county, as police and fire sirens were screaming evacuation, Arvind left his house. That was the last time he would see it. By the time the first rays of the sun rose on a smoldering Ventura County, on December 5, 2017 his food, shelter, and other belongings were gone, snatched away by the Thomas Fire as it ravaged across Southern California, engulfing hundreds of homes in its path.

Later that day Arvind went by, what was once his house.

What lay ahead for blocks and blocks, were stark shades of foreboding gray, burnt out homes and broken dreams.

Everything is gone.

He has nothing left, nothing except hope.  Let us preserve this hope for Arvind. Let us all come together for him, at this time. Every penny helps. He needs these funds not only to help in replacing basic goods such as bedding, clothes, food, etc. but to also help him replace all the business equipment needed for his self-run small business (computer, printer, filing cabinets, network systems, etc.). As well as for finding a new home, medical expenses and to relieve the stress of daily survival so he can continue healing and find a way for sustainable living over the course of the next year.

Any donation is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
