Run For Russell!

We are starting a Color Run team to raise money for Russell!
Russell is a regular 2 year old boy who loves running around, playing in the dirt and chasing ducks. The evening of Tuesday March 4th we noticed there was limp to his step. By Wednesday evening it had gotten worse and we knew there was a problem!We were care flighted to Vegas that night and testing began to find out what was happening. Russell was quickly loosing strength all over his body, he lost the ability to walk by Thursday and it continued to travel up his body, he could not sit up or pick up his arms and then one of his eyelids fell. He went through CT Scans of the brain and chest, MRIs of the brain and spine, 2 Spinal Taps, Blood Tests, Tensilin Test and treatments began before doctors could even fingure out what was wrong. All tests came back as normal, everything pointed towards being a healthy child. Russell had gone through so much and was so tired and things were just getting worse. They wanted to do one last MRI and Spinal Tap, only this time they would have to put him under for 3 hours to do the MRI...and a 2nd spinal tap. We were really weary about things by now but we went forward with it. The results came back for the second spinal tap that showed high levels of proteins which pointed towards Guillian Barre Syndrome. He was diagnosed with Miller Fisher, a rare form of Guillian Barre. This paragraph just touches slightly on what happened and what Russell has gone through in the last few weeks. (I began video of him the Tuesday night we noticed something was worng. And Im glad I did video and notebook of everything through this whole process as well because Russell did not take well to the Doctors and nurses after everything that had happened, and would not show them what he could or could not do.) I could write a book on the last 3 weeks we have had! After spending 2 weeks in Vegas we are back home and Russell is showing small imporvements everyday. While we were in vegas and also since being back I have recorded in a notbook everything about what Russell has done or gone through and have photos and videos of each day I will continue to share more about Russells experiences in the diagnosis of Guillian Barre Syndrome. -Breette
