Love for Esther

Recently I have reconnected with Esther Dudas, because as luck would have it, we ended up living in the same building last year. It was unfortunate to learn that Esther had a cardiac arrest in 2007 which had left her with neurological injuries and debilitations. As a consequence, Esther is unable to walk, speak or write.
Having spent time with Esther and her family, it has been very touching to see how supportive and dedicated they are to her well-being. Both her parents have full-time jobs, and make sure that Esther is taken care of and goes to physiotherapy regularly. Physiotherapy has helped Esther maintain and improve her muscle strength and flexibility. Her family has traveled to get the best opinions and treatments across North America, as well as abroad. A lot of the services that her family have sought to help Esther were not covered by the public health care or insurance, but have actually come out of their own pocket. It's touching to see such amazing dedication. The lengths that they go to for Esther makes a difference in her life and you can see it in her face, as she is always smiling.
Esther was a very cheerful and sweet member of the York Mills Collegiate Institute community, and as such, I think it would be wonderful to show our support for one our own. I think it's important to reach out and show Esther that we still remember and care about her. To do this I have set-up this crowd-funding site in her mother's name, Berentine Dudas, to collect donations as well as personal messages. I know that any financial assistance that we could provide would be of great help for her family towards helping Esther get additional services and specially made equipment for her needs.
