Dear Friends,
We are excited to tell you that we will be going on a short-term mission trip to Peru sponsored by the Texas and Louisiana District of the Wesleyan church. We have an ongoing commitment to establishing new churches along the Amazon River. We will be leaving on August 22nd and returning home on August 31st, 2014.
Spiritually, this is an often forgotten region of the world. Maybe we need to clarify that by saying, the Christian presence in many of these areas is non-existent. The souls of many, however, have been influenced by "brujeria" (spiritism/witchcraft). Demonic strongholds although very real in the U.S., aren't experienced in quite the same way as is the case in Latin America. With the presence of evil, we also recognize this to be a wonderful opportunity to show Christ to the Peruvians.
"For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)
This trip is scheduled to be a WORK/EVANGELISM (August TEAM). Lord willing, we will be building a church, installing a water well, ministering to the children's physical and spiritual needs, and serving poor areas. We will be working in a jungle town off the Amazon river near Tamshiyacu, Peru. To get a better idea of what it looks like, please watch the video above.
We know that we cannot accomplish this task alone and we trust you will consider being a partner with me on this trip. There are many ways to get involved. Money is always needed, in fact we still need about $4000 more to finalize our trip expenses. But even more important than that, is our need to have a prayer team in place. We need twenty people who will commit to pray for me and the team, from now till we return on August 31, 2014.
We would just like to ask you to consider being a part of my stateside support team in some way.
