Save a friend
My name is Jim Wright, known online as the political writer Stonekettle.
I've started this gofundme for a dear friend, someone who is well known to most
of my readers. Through no fault of his own and due to the malfeasance of a tax
lawyer over a period of many years, he suddenly finds himself in dire straits. He's
at immediate risk of losing losing not just his home, but everything else he holds
dear. He asked me for help in raising funds to pay off the IRS and get things back
on track. Because I personally know he's of the highest character and has spent
his entire life helping others, and because I know he would never ask such a favor
unless there were no other options, I'm asking my audience to come to the rescue.
Because he's well known, he's embarrassed by this situation and asked me to keep him anonymous for now. As such, I realize it is likely difficult to donate to an
anonymous cause on only my word, but I'm hoping that over the years I've been
forthright enough with you that you'll trust me on this one. We're trying to raise a
lot of money in a short amount of time and all I can say to you is that we wouldn't
be doing it if it wasn't absolutely necessary.
For those who do donate, my friend and fellow writer David Gerrold has offered
some of his own work, and I will offer up some of my handcrafted pens,
photographic prints, and some signed copies of my own material. We're working
to see if we can get other writers to throw in as well. How we'll distribute those
materials, we haven't yet figured out, but I'll get it done likely though my various
social media feeds.
I want to thank all of you who have followed and supported me all these years
and say again that I wouldn't be asking if it wasn't important and desperately
needed.
