Medical Costs for Pamela Honrud Smith

Who is Pamela Smith?  Well, quite simply, she's a bad ass!  That said, she's also a wonderful mother and friend, not only to me, but also my sister and to my beautiful niece that she has raised since birth.  She's strong and spiritual, a loving grandmother, a doting wife, compassionate friend, a woman who adores her parents and would do anything for anyone. 

Pamela was diagnosed with liver cancer in December of 2013.  The tumors are inoperable due to their location.  The teams we have met with in the past few months have determined that transplant is the only route.  In the mean time she has undergone Chemo to shrink the tumors.  After many, many, many tests and probes (sorry mom), she is accepted on the transplant list!!  All of that hard work she put in will pay off. 

We live in Vancouver, Washington and the transplant and monthly testing takes place in Seattle, Washington. Once her liver transplant takes place, she and my Grandmother will have to live in Seattle for three months before she is allowed to travel back to her home for further recovery. As you can imagine, the cost of staying in Seattle is pretty expensive; conservatively estimated to be between $2000-$3000 per month, not including normal costs at home. We are initiating a fundraiser to help pay for transport, housing, and other costs her insurance company doesn't cover, and that many don't consider until they are faced with something like this. This has, and will continue, to take a significant toll on her ability to work, which is also why we are doing a fundraiser.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my mother.  She really is simply amazing.
