FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN TO ASSIST IN GIVING A 45 yr old WOMAN WITH END STAGE BRAIN CANCER HER FINAL WISH TO SPEND HER LAST DAYS AND END HER JOURNEY AT THE PLACE SHE FEELS MOST AT HOME.
This is a no-pressure, strictly-volunteer way to help Chris and Barbara meet their financial needs for the hospice care as she makes her journey to her final destination after a courageous 2 year 3 month battle of her life to beat this devastating disease.
Chris, a dedicated career nurse who has been with her partner Barbara of 15 Years recently received the the worst possible news imaginable from her doctors.
The doctors told them this was the end for Chris and that they have come to that point where they should start preparing for hospice care as they have exhausted all options in the possibility of remission or cure and that at this point all they could offer was keep her comfortable.
Chris and Barbara are both devastated and scared. However, very much devoted to each other and wanting to control as much of this process as possible, they have had many "WHAT IF" conversations. The answer for both Chris and Barbara has ALWAYS been the same. That answer involves going back to the place they have spent every winter for the past 15 years...a small island called Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies.
This place is like a second home for them both. It also holds a lifetime of memories that are near and dear to their hearts. The people on the island have become their family and Chris needs three things during this journey...her partner, family and friends.
Chris does not have a "traditional family" her parents and siblings abandoned her long ago because of her sexuality. So she literally has become a daughter, sister and friend to everyone on this small island. It makes sense that this is where she wants to spend her final days. Embraced by loving, accepting, compassionate and caring people. Surrounded by peace and tranquility that will give Chris and Barbara the time they need to be together in their love.
In order for this final wish to come true it is necessary to have the financial resources to make it happen.
We asked Chris and Barbara what they needed the funds for, how long they will need financial support while there, as they will have no income and how much they will need.
The funds will be for housing and utilities, air fare, local transportation, nursing & physician care, medication, medical equipment and supplies, and a "Celebration of Life" service, (in Bequia) etc. Of course we can't put a time line on this but the doctors have given Chris 9 - 12 months. The total cost is $25,000.00
Our goal is to raise the $25.000.00 ASAP. Which will take the burden of worrying about how to pay for this journey and the associated costs off Chris and Barbara.
Let's be heroes for these women and make this happen. We are all like-minded, generous, kind hearted and compassionate folks.
