Rachels Locke Dillon Medical Fund

My name is Jamie Treadaway and I would be honored to introduce you to my beautiful niece, Rachel. Rachel is a beautiful 30 year old mother who has spent the last decade working for the greater good within the nonprofit and mission field.

In her late teens and early 20’s Rachel traveled to eight countries on various trips to help humanity doing various volunteer work like teaching in a blind school and teaching English as a second language. She has also worked stateside for various organizations such as Neighborhood Services, Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, and is an Alumni of AmeriCorps. She currently works as Resource Development for Shining Light International where she has been fortunate to work from home writing grants.

Due to rapidly declining health, Rachel and her 3 year-old daughter, Evelyn, rely heavily on her parents, 23 year veteran teachers, to supplement her income. If anyone knows her parents, Denise and Chirs Locke, they have dedicated their life and love towards the next generation. The last two months Rachel's mother has had to miss work to help care for Rachel and Evelyn and presently there is no end in sight of that changing.

I wish I could tell you exactly what the doctors have diagnosed Rachel with, but we simply do not have an answer. They have discovered multiple issues. Since 2015 she has endured numerous procedures/surgeries involving her kidneys, 9 ER visits, and 8 hospital stays. Rachel currently has a Nephrostomy bag (a tube placed in her back to drain the kidneys). Recently, she has learned she has adrenal insufficiency and in the last several weeks developed 3 different infections.

As of November 2nd, she was transferred by medical flight to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She received a bed to bed transfer and immediately started medical test and procedures to try to discover what is wrong. We are now in emergency mode to begin support for Rachel and her parents.

Our family is at a loss for words as we fumble through a frustrating and seemingly impossible to nail down diagnosis. We are hopeful that the doctors at Mayo will be able to help find the answer that we have been looking for.

In the meantime, despite having insurance, medical bills are mounting. Her mother, Denise, traveled to Minnesota to be by Rachel’s side and now the family is faced with travel expenses including hotel, transportation, etc. to be by Rachel’s side.

Rachel’s dad, Chris, has gone back to work in Colorado to continue to financially support his family.

Rachel’s darling daughter is being cared for by her brother and his wife during her stay at Mayo.

At this point it’s hard to say what she will need because there are many unknowns. We will begin this campaign with a goal of $10,000. The funds will first and foremost be used for the urgent needs – hotel, travel, etc. The remainder will be spent on the mounting medical bills that are already pouring in.

We believe this goal is attainable - if we could just find a simple 500 people to give $20 - the goal would be met quickly.

If you are unable to give, please pass on to someone who may be able to. We will also have volunteer needs in the coming days if you are unable to give financially. Maybe you have airline miles or hotel points you would be willing to give.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is a position that no one ever wants to be in. We are so grateful for your prayers, donations, and time.
