Eben Abshire

We are reaching out to you on behalf of our mutual friend Eben Abshire.  As you probably know, Eben and his family are focusing their efforts and resources on battling the unpreventable and unpredictable evil of cancer and although the good guys appear to be winning, the effort has not come without the costs of stress and finances.  Once Eben is back on his feet upon recovery from this last surgery we will be hosting a victory celebration and pig roast, but until then we offer you an opportunity to provide some financial relief through a GoFundMe account that has been set up online (see link and details below).  We all know Eben’s strength and resolve makes him a rare specimen that will never have to ask for help, but we also recognize the reality of situations like this.  We contacted his family prior to creating the GoFundMe account to make sure they agreed this is appropriate and would provide relief for Eben and Amy (as opposed to discomfort) and they confirmed it would be appreciated.  We ask that the amount of any donations be anonymous to ensure Eben never feels beholden to anyone as a result of this effort. We would like to add your name to a list of donors that will be shared with Eben, but prefer not have an association with a specific amount of the donation.  The number of people who have reached out to him and Amy during this period of uncertainty is remarkable so it doesn’t matter if you contribute $5 or $500 because significance and strength will come with the number of us who care.  We also ask that you do not use public broadcasts of social media like Facebook if you choose to share this opportunity with others because we feel very strongly on Eben’s behalf that we do not want anyone with limited knowledge or understanding of the kind of man Eben is to misinterpret this as a charity case rather than an opportunity to provide comfort and relief for friend or loved one.  We will keep you posted on the date and location of the victory celebration as Eben’s recovery continues to improve but it will probably be in the Grand Junction area within a few weeks.
