Heart Transplant

As most of you already know, I was diagnosed with heart failure back in 2011. Until December of 2015 I felt pretty good, and treated the problem with prescription medication and lived a normal life. Little did I know my heart was getting worse causing my liver and kidneys to start failing. I moved back downstate from the UP because the type of treatment I needed could not be provided. Fast forward to June of 2016, I wasn't feeling well at all so I go to the heart clinic at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids to hopefully change up my meds and get feeling better. After close to a week in the hospital I'm feeling pretty good and think I'm going home, then the night of June 6th comes and it turned my world upside down. I remember waking up having a hard time breathing, the nurse was doing everything she could to get the respirator on me and get me to breathe. All I remember after that is hearing her call code blue.  The next month is very foggy, I don't know how many times for sure I flat lined and how I survived all the surgeries and having a LVAD (left ventricle assist device) put in my heart but I'm here. It's been a hell of a journey, and after spending 63 days in the hospital and losing nearly 75lbs I finally got myself healthy enough for a HEART TRANSPLANT. I've been on the list for nearly a year and a half and getting near the top of the list, no one knows when the transplant will happen but it could be any time.  I am very lucky to have made it this far and I'm greatful for every day I get to spend with my 2 kids, my grandson, my brothers family and friends.  I have medical insurance but the cost of a couple of the meds after transplant and something called the donut hole in my insurance is why im asking for help here. The cost of this will be upwards of $15,000 and being on disability while I'm waiting for transplant doesn't give much extra to save.
