Maggie and Pat need support!
Expecting their first child on the heels of saving their beloved cat Auggie from some pretty significant medical problems, Maggie and Pat may not have enough money to hire themselves a birth doula. I'd like to see us get together and support them by contributing to their birth doula fund.
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained birth attendant who provides physical, informational and emotional support to women and their partners during labor. Doulas provide a continuity of care, they support a couple's plans for labor, facilitate communication and provide lots of idea and suggestion for coping with labor. Doulas have been shown to have real, positive impacts on birth outcomes - they contribute to reduced cesarean rates, increased breastfeeding and improve women & their partner's experience during childbirth. It's been said by the doctors who did original research on doula care, "If a doula were a drug, it would be malpractice not to use it!"
Contributions to this fund will allow Maggie and Pat to hire a doula who meets their needs, who will support their experience as new parents.
