Hi, this site to fundraise for our 14 year old son Jake.
he has been diagnosed with a very rare Desmoid tumor
Jake is an old soul, very caring and kind to others. He is a football player for high school and a decent student. Mostly he is an amazing human being. Desmoid tumor's are a form of cancer and only 0.03% of all people get this disease.
Its more aggressive than cancer and will almost always return after surgeries. We have travelled back and forth a couple of times already ,with an average of minimum four trips a year.
We have been so lucky to find great organizations that help families of sick children.
We ask for financial help and support as we navigate this journey with our son. We have many medications, new one is called interferon. We have had this one covered, what a huge relief. This medication is above 5000.00 a month. These medications cause side effects, the pain meds and nausea meds aren't covered, neither is certain foods that he can eat or foods that help his health internally. We ask for the community in Prince George, and the rest of Canada to help with costs for some food, meds, physio therapy sessions as well as help with time for Jake's dad and I to be with him for most of his trips. If this medication works, then he is on for the next two years. If this medication does not work we face a large surgery and six months in Vancouver at children's hospital.Jake will be fighting this his whole life, so with so much happening we also are trying to build an account for him as he gets older and can't work during treamtents or surgeries.
We are willing to do whatever he needs to have as much normal as everyone else would have. We hope to help with football costs and any equipment needed over the next few years. Please don't worry if you can't donate money, but we do ask that you share his story so that more people learn about this very destructive cancer. Learn and share and let's make jake and all the others not feel alone. Let's also consider donating to the Desmoid research foundation and let's find a cure!!!!
