David's Shoes

Helping Teens and Children Honor Life!

Teen violence is one of the most serious challenges plaguing urban communities all over our country. In 1998, 3,792 American children and teens (19 and under) died by gunfire in murders, suicides and unintentional shootings, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. That's more than 10 young people a day. In that year my son David, happened to be one of them. As a result of his death David's Shoes A NJ Non- Profit Corporation was formed.

David's Shoe's was organized to

(1)  conduct assemblies involving children and teens  to encourage them to honor life by making conscious decisions rather than living life on impulse, an anti-violence message
(2)  to collect 3,792 pairs of shoes which represents the death of youth as a result of teen violence in1998
(3)  to use the shoes to create an exhibit to demonstrate the seriousness of this problem
(4)  to provide educational scholarships to high school graduates who choose to honor life rather than destructive behaviors such as joining gangs
(4)  to provide workshops and seminars that empower students to make positive choices.

We have worked diligently to achieve our goals. We have visited schools and other organizations throughout New Jersey and plans are being made to visit schools in New York. We are still in the process of collecting shoes. To date we have given out over $13,000 in scholarships.

To do this and to reach more students we need your financial help. We are soliciting your donations to help us achieve our mission. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. All donations received will be acknowledged. Because David's Shoes is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, your donations are tax-ductile.

Perhaps you may not be able to contribute financially, but you still hold the power to make a difference. Help David's Shoes by spreading the word through your social media networks.
