Penunuri, Laurie, 50, of Avondale, AZ passed on March 14, 2014. She is a beloved wife, daughter, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Keller. She is survived by her husband Manuel and daughter Kathryn Penunuri, step-children Desiree, Mark, and Nooney, mother Sera Keller, brothers Michael, Jon, and Joseph Keller, sisters Tammy Squire (Michael), Carrie Pavell (Anthony), brothers-in-law Robert and Larry, and sister-in-law Jessie. Laurie is also survived by hernieces and nephews who she was very proud of: Michael, Nicole, Kimberly, Matthew, Sera, Megan, Haley, Olivia, Sergio, Cassandra, Alexis, Gabriel, Larry Jr, Shane, Marieza, Michael, Elizabeth and Felicia. Finally, her 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Laurie was born in Detroit, MI, and spent most of her childhood in Gladwin and Midland, MI, moving to Arizona in 1982. She was passionate about sports, especially softball and basketball. Her other passion has been helping people, focusing her education and career on social work and adult education. She was a graduate of Midland High School, Ottawa University, and was scheduled to receive her Master's Degree from Argosy University in May.
In 1995, she married Manuel Penunuri, and in 1999 the light of their life, Kathryn (Katy) was born. In the past 15 years, Laurie's primary focus has been supporting and encouraging Katy in her education and dance passions.
All who knew Laurie are thankful for the gifts she brought to all around her: the most generous of hearts, and a wonderful sense of humor that could drive hearty laughs in any setting. She had a daily relationship with God, and her faith carries her into heaven where she is full of light.
