I have started this GoFundMe page to allow people to donate to the medical expenses of my mom, Lori Arntz .
Late at night on Friday, August 18, Lori fell down the steps at their new home in Huntersville while she and my dad were moving. She hit her head and fractured her skull and had bleeding in her brain.
She has been in the Neurological ICU at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center since then undergoing tests and treatment. On Saturday August 26, she had improved enough to be moved to the Stroke and Nueuro Sciences floor for continued treatment.
She still has some swelling in her brain, short term memory loss, pain and a lot of confusion at times. When she is released she will need physical therapy rehab to help her regain the strength to walk and will need in-home care for some time. At this point we do not have an answer on whether there will be any permanent damage, but she continues to improve each day.
This has been a stressful time for my family on several fronts, and while thankfully the worst is over, there is still a long road to recovery ahead.
