Hurricane Florence Animal Rescue

Donation protected
9/18/18 Update:  I am absolutely floored by the support this has received. We raised over $1,000 in the first day! Still accepting donations, because every dollar given is another dollar for the animals.

While speaking with ASPCA reps over the past several days, they told me my best option would be to work with local shelters and organizations to find out where help is needed most. After lots of research and calling all over the place, the organization that I have chosen to work with is http://hurricanepetsrescue.org/. They are a smaller organization, and 100% of their revenue goes to the care and well being of animals. They currently have first responders on the ground in North and South Carolina, and I'm ready to go help any way I can.

One of the families who donated here said they were also interested in adopting a dog, so I will likely have a travel companion on my return drive! If anyone else is interested in adoption, please let me know and I will gladly do what I can to facilitate.

9/13/18 - I was sitting at work, crying thinking about all the pets who will be abandoned in this hurricane and feeling helpless, when a friend said, "You could go down there and help." So that is exactly what I'm going to do.

I am packing my car full of supplies and driving to South Carolina Wednesday morning, returning Sunday evening (9/19-9/23). I have a place to stay and am paying for all travel costs myself, so 100% of these donations will be used to help the animals. The money will be used for food, clean water, medications and vet bills, and so so so many treats for all the good boys and good girls. Any money that is not used for supplies during my trip or is raised after the fact will be donated to the Humane Society as cash, which will be eligible to receive an extra 50% matching gift from my job.

While I am in South Carolina, I will be volunteering at one of the command posts run by the Humane Society and the local ASPCA. I will be doing anything from physically going out and rescuing animals, to bathing and caring for animals who have been brought in, to transporting animals between shelters and further inland, to answering calls from people looking for their lost pets.

Our pets give us their entire life and their entire heart. Any and all donations are appreciated!

Thank you!
