IVF Journey

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a year and a half, doesn't sound long to most but time is not on our side. Our journey started with my OBGYN starting me on clomid, (fertility med) which I was on for four months. Through those four months we found out that I dont ovulate (even on meds) and have PCOD/PCOS (Polycystic ovarian disease). After the fourth month on the meds my doctor refered me to a fertility specialist in Saginaw, seeing this doctor we understood the disease and started treating the symptoms. We also found out that the PCOD has caused me to be insulin resistant (my body makes too much insulin and doesn't know what to do with it). The specialist did an endometrial biopsy finding polyp fragments and pre cancer, he decided to do a D&C right away to prevent it from progressing. After the D&C we did another biopsy three months later to make sure nothing was coming back in my uterus. We got great news that my biopsy came back normal, no more pre cancer or cancer. He also told us that Philips semen analysis came back with only 5% of his sperm are mobile, and that 5% are very sluggish and slow, he told us that our only option was IVF and we needed to do the procedure ASAP while my uterus is in good condition. Doing IVF I will be taking different hormone injections to make sure that my eggs mature enough for ovulation, so that they can do the egg retrieval. Our doctor is very confident that this will work for us, we have a 75-80% chance of becoming pregnant. If for some reason something terrible happens and we are unable to go through with the IVF we are prepared to use the money we raise for adoption so we can still have the family we have always wanted.
