Jeff Golfis Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello,

As many of you are aware the last few years Jeff has been suffering from Liver failure and is in the final stages of this disease. Not only does it effect your liver but the spleen, kidneys, and toxins that are not being filtered affect your brain as well. Jeff has been in and out of the hospital and ER an extraordinary amount of times the last couple years and now makes scheduled hospital visits 2x a week for paracentisis procedures.

The ER trips are so numerous the nurses tease Jeff and my mom that they think it is their date night each week. He has been receiving medical care in Waconia and now Mayo as he is in desperate need of a liver transplant as he continues to gets weaker and more of his organs are being affected. He is currently unable to work due to the toxins affecting his organs and brain and his numerous medical procedures.  His brother Rick has graciously offered and is a potential match for a Live Transplant. They will go to Mayo March 17th for 3 days of testing to confirm compatibility and that he is indeed able to donate a large portion of his liver to his brother.

Post surgery recovery will require ongoing medical care for both Rick and Jeff. The donors recovery time is much shorter and quicker however both him and Jeff will need to stay in Rochester with 24/7 care. Jeff will be in ICU for a week or so then he will be moved out of the hospital however he will need to pay to live somewhere in close proximity to the hospital for approximately a month with 24/7 care.

Jeff has been a blessing in our families life and I know he has touched so many others with his caring heart, talkative spirit and sense of humor not to mention if you ever need to know anything he is like a walking encyclopedia! He's the 1st to offer help whether its shoveling the neighbors yard, sober cabbing a friend in the middle of the night, running to the rescue when your car breaks down or a tire needs changed. Ive heard he's even gone as far as feeding someone's pet cow while they were out of town. ;)
Jeff is a humble man who'd never ask anyone of anything so lets shower him with support for all he has given to those that know an love him. Whether its shooting him a text to just say “Hi” to see hows he's doing, stopping by for a visit, or by making a financial contribution if you are able. Please help share his story and fund raiser through your social media accounts and with other caring people. All of it makes a differences and is so important and appreciated in his journey to recovery.

Thank you!
