It takes a village
My name is Timmy, and this is the story of my nieces and nephews. It is a story full of love but tinged
with some of the darkest experiences, any one person could go through, let alone a child.
I am a hard-working tire mechanic, a devoted husband, and a loving father. I have spent my life
overcoming many obstacles and have been fortunate enough to have found a career I love and become
the parent and provider that I myself never had as a child.
I am also a proud man.
I’ve gotten to this point in my life by grasping every opportunity without
asking for help, but now all that has changed.
I am not too proud to say that I need help and
support.
A few weeks ago, there was an incident that meant my wife and I were presented with an option: take in
our nieces and nephews in addition to our 5 children or allow them to be separated in foster care with
strangers. To be honest: there wasn’t an option; it was simple. We are now lucky to have 6 extra smiling
faces in our home.
We also now have to provide for 11 children, which is incredibly expensive and includes not just food,
housing and other basic necessities. I have an 8-seat vehicle, which used to work for my family,
but now it is clearly not enough. Our typical monthly expenses, including food, water, and electricity, have also gone
up. We have had to buy additional furniture, car seats, and my wife and I are currently sleeping in our
living room on a used sofa bed we just bought online to make sure all 11 children have plenty of space
upstairs. We have received some support from the State, but as you probably know, it just isn’t enough.
This is where you come in…
With your support, my wife and I can ensure that we are able to continue to provide for our nieces and
nephews. This would help prevent them from getting separated within the foster care system. We want to
continue to provide them with emotional stability by making sure they have what they need to feel
wanted and a part of our family. We want to spend quality time with them; we want to show them that they matter and that they are loved. Staying with us means that these children will come to learn the true meanings of love and family.
I understand that times are difficult for everyone, but if you can help us, please donate so that we can
raise enough funds to keep my nieces and nephews in our care. These children have lived through so
much darkness and so much chaos; we want to help them have the love, the family, and the future they
deserve.
