UPDATE!!!!

Sophie left today at 2:30 p.m. from the San Francisco International Airport! She will land in Amsterdam for a 3hr lay over and should reach Greece roughly by 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.  It was truly the happiest day for her!!  Wide eyed and a little afraid, but with the sweetest smile that I will remember forever!

It was truly remarkable for me to drive away without her, as we have traveled just down the street from the San Francisco Airport for the past 4 years for my annual MRI cancer check.  I missed her terribly on the ride home, but my thoughts of her strength, support, love and fortitude through my illness made me cry all the way home.  I couldn't have ever had enough time to kiss her good bye, agghhh!

I love all of you so much; I truly couldn't have given her this once in a lifetime experience without your kindness!

God bless each of you,
Sophie's Momma

I recently battled and won a fight with Breast cancer  I wanted to be strong and set a good example for my teenage daughter; it ends up that she was the strong and tough one, standing by my side with emotional support, love and endurance that is rarely seen in a teenager.  She is truly a blessing from God.  Unfortunatley the harsh radical fast track chemotherapy has left my body thrashed with an incurable case of neuropathy that continues to rack away at my feet, knees, legs arms and hands.  I have continued to struggle to work to make ends meet and to provide memorable high school days for my girl.  She never complained of not having a lot, and was grateful for what was provided.  Never asked for the best of the best, but settled for whatever was available.  After a routine MRI last week the Doctors found a vertebra in my neck that could cause some very serious parslysis if surgery is not completed.  So here I sit with a big problem, until I have surgery and for the future there will be no work for me.  I'm sitting here smiling, but in a neck brace shuffling around with hands and legs that don't work so great.  I started consolidating some of my personal items to help with bills, tuition and  for a graduation trip to Greece that I have been working and paying for my daughter to  attend with some of her graduating class.  I have some of the trip paid for, but without me working there just won't be enough income, to pay my personal bills and provide this gift for her.  I have prayed about what to do and someone suggested a fundraising site, so here I am.  It's hard for me to ask for help, but it's for something more important than my pride.  It's to make ends meet for my kid, the one who watched over me and protected me while I was ill.  This trip and her college are the things I have dreamed of giving her.  And while there is some help it's just not enough.  So I will try and fundraise and set aside my pride to help us financially.  Please know, I am a pay it forward person, so for whatever help you may offer me, please know that your kindness will be paid forward to others in need in the future by me.  God has changed who I am through my adversity so I am not afraid, only hopeful.  Thank you for your consideration and if it pleases you, I could sure use a share on this fundraiser.  Respectfully, Sophie's Momma
