West Bloomfield Speech and Debate Team

Hi I'm a coach and former debater from West Bloomfield High School. However there has been rising issues of our school cutting funding to our program and has lead to our traveling expenses being left up to primarily the students. They pay 100s of dollars a season to be able to go to tournaments and pay for hotel fees. Your donation does a few things, it would help send our kids to tournaments and allow them to not constantly worry about the expenses to get them to and from tournaments. Your donation will also help insure that our program survives the upcoming budget cuts from the West Bloomfield School District. In the next two years our High School is looking to defund and cut programs it deems as unnecessary.  Furthermore the educational value of keeping our Debate team is worth the investment, Debate is one of the most educational experiences a student can have in their High School career. In a year of being a part of the debate team students learn about various political and philosophical issues ranging from current events in politics to various moral dilemmas great thinkers have pondered for centuries. Students also learn skills which carry over into their core studies, such as ways to enhance research, note-taking, and public speaking skills.Debate has also been a second home for many students at West Bloomfield and is worth every penny you can spare to help keep the program alive.
