Don't Let Them Freeze to Death

Neighbors helping neighbors can make a real difference.  John and Amanda (his 13 year old dog) are regulars on the corner of N. Thompson and Floyd.  John was hit and drug by a hit and run driver several years ago and has medical issues as a result of this accident.  (There was no insurance money as it was a hit and run)  He is unable to keep a job.  His companion is Amanda, the scruffy sweet dog.  He is unable to stay in a shelter because he does not want to be separated from her.  The weather this week and next is not fit for humans or animals to be out in the elements.  We have been blessed by the generosity of others to provide him a motel that is in biking distance of Carytown that will let Amanda stay too.  We would like to make sure there is enough money to pay for the hotel for any nights under 25 degree.  He has acclimated himself to the cold but there are limits.  As most of us have the privilege of having warm homes, let's help those who do not.  Thank you for your generosity.  We are also going to work with him to see if disability paperwork can be completed.  Someone started this process in the past, but we do not know why they did not complete it.  Thank you so much.  If this is not the right cause for you please consider helping someone else.  Let's make 2018 a more kind year where all of us can make a difference to someone.  Happy New Year!
