My name is Geraldo Galarza Jr and I am a member of the Dolphin Swim Club in Boston, Massachusetts. My team has been selected to participate in the 28th Annual Black History Invitational Swim Meet in Washington D.C. During this event I will have the opportunity to meet other competitors from all over the country. Over the past months I have worked hard and competed successfully in many state wide swim meets. Just to name one of them , on January 4, 2014 the team competed in Bronx NY and brought home the 1st place trophy. Among hundreds of swimmers, my team has made it to a prestigious competition, to the Winter Haven Stingrays 2014 Rowdy Cup Long Course Swim Meet in April 25 "“ 27, 2014 in Florida. I see this as a great opportunity where I will be exposed to different people and places, also get the opportunity to represent the City of Boston. This will also be my first time ever in Florida.
My family has been going through some hardships. My mom and aunt are the ones who care for me and they are both sick. My mom is going through cancer treatments for the second time and my aunt her first. They are both working very hard to take me to this meet since I have been doing so well. The swimming meet will be held during the beginning of the school vacation and I can't get there without your support. I would really appreciate your help by sponsoring my travel expenses including transportation, hotel, food and the swim fees ( aprox. $ 2,000 total for the meet ). This amount is so my aunt can go with me since I'm only 13. I'm hoping that you will help me in reaching my goal. I need to raise this money by deadline April 17, 2014.
