Permaculture for the South Pacific

Donation protected
In less than three weeks, I will be joining OceansWatch for the 2014 Sailing Expedition to Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.

Oceanswatch is a non-profit which helps develop sustainable marine systems for communities throughout the South Pacific. Each year, the communities invite the organization to help them with marine protected areas, permaculture development and land-to-sea conservation.

For eight months, we will work on community-based marine protected areas, and reef conservation. I will also be participating in the creation of Virgin Coconut Oil production co-operatives, helping improve land-use agricultural practices and developping sustainable livelihoods.

For the past 7 years, I have been learning about permaculture and natural farming in Hawaii, seeking the best new and traditional Hawaiian methods to grow food and the communities that depend on them.

This expedition is the culmination of all my efforts. Every single step of my education and path has led me to this point. This is the perfect opportunity for me to apply the skill set I have been building, while conserving the oceans through effective land-use management!

My ultimate goal is to bring back all that I will learn to our community in Hawaii, and to help create new watershed management solutions for our own agricultural and reef systems.

Please help me achieve this and make it possible! Be part of a really cool effort to spread sustainable solutions in the world!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! ALOHA!
