medical bills, rent, food

Most of my friends, family, fellow geocachers and co-workers know that I have been  fighting spinal issues for the past year and a half. I have been under a doctors care for that time. On February 14th while I was working in the Emergency Room I felt ill and felt like I was going to pass out. I was admitted to the Emergency Room and it was necessary for an I.V. to be established in my right External Jugular Vein (E.J.) Labs were drawn and 2 liters of normal saline was infused through this E.J. site along with 25 mg of Phenergan. I felt much better and I was discharged to home. The next morning I noticed that the site (right E.J.) was a little bit hard and swollen. I showed several doctors the site and they all had the same answer. " Since it is not warm, red and oozing blood or any purulent drainage that I should just apply warm compresses to the area to help reduce the swelling" It was great advice from all of the doctors I showed it to. I was doing fine until 20Feb2014 I noticed that the area was now becoming red. I had a full course of Antibiotics at home so I started taking them 4 times a day. I told myself that if the redness and swelling did not get better by 0600 the morning of 21FEB2014 that I would go into the Emergency Department for better/stronger antibiotics. I was admitted to the hospital with the diagnosis of right neck abscess. I eventually had to go the the operating room where they opened the wound, drained the purulent drainage and they had to cut out 2 inches of my external jugular vein because the tissue had died (necrosis). At this point I was so ill and so fatigued that I hardly even got out of bed. I am home now, my husband is doing twice daily wound dressing changes and I have to go to the infection disease clinic every day for an infusion of strong antibiotics. I am totally devasted monetarily wise. I have no income to pay my rent (which was due on 05MAR2014) have no money to pay for food, medical bills and electricity to my home to name but a few bills that need to be taken care of immediately. I have no savings to help me when incidents like this happen to me. I do have short term disability, but have been unable to get the paperwork yet, will be able to do that this coming Thursday. I have never asked publically for people to help me out, but at this point I have no where else to turn to. My family has helped us out as much as they could. Please, any amount you can donate will help me get the things I need to recover and get back to work. As it stands now I won't be able to return to work for at least 3 weeks because that is what is scheduled for I.V. antibiotics and then a re-evaluation of my wound/fever will be done to see if I need further treatment. I need help friends, loved ones, fellow geocachers and co-workers. Please see it in the kindness of your heart to help me out. I thank you so much!
