Willow

This is our wonderful pup, Willow, with her big brother, Louie.  Willow is a 6-month old goldendoodle and is currently in a battle to recover from brain damage that resulted from complications during routine surgery to have her spayed. Willow's family (Andrea, Ron and their kids Raeann, Lincoln and Skylar) love her so incredibly much and are trying to give Willow every possible chance to survive this ordeal.  

During her surgery on Thursday, October 4, Willow suffered a brief drop in heart rate and quickly received epinephrin to keep the heart going. During this time her oxygen was monitored and, although the oxygen levels appeared to have remained good, at some point and for whatever reason, Willow's brain suffered damage.  When she would not rise out of anesthesia after a couple of hours, she was transported to a regional animal hospital that specializes in emergency care. Willow has been there for several days now, and at this point all we know for sure is that if Willow is able to recover, she has a very long road ahead of her. 

It has been agonizing for her family.  Willow has been absolutely the best of puppies!  She's always happy and affectionate to all. While we love Willow with all our hearts, the expense of providing her critical care is rising quickly every day.  And unfortunately we have no guarantee that she can recover; it may well turn out that her quality of life may never come back significantly.  If it becomes in her best interest to ease her suffering by having to tearfully say good-bye to Willow, then we will. 

But for now we are still clinging to hope.  Willow has a young brain and she is receiving excellent care. If love alone could cure her, she would have left the hospital several days ago!

Please, if you can, help us to give Willow every chance to make her recovery.  In less than a week we are already in this for several thousand dollars, and we cannot continue indefinitely. Your donation will go directly to help paying her medical expenses, and may help extend Willow's care long enough for her to make the progress that she needs to make to be able to survive to once again smother her family and friends with her kisses and fluff!
