Icelandic Expedition

Hello family and friends. As most of you know, I am attending California College of the Arts located in San Francisco. I am majoring in Architecture and am currently in my 4th year (1 more year to go!). I will be embarking on a trip to the land of Fire and Ice; Iceland, this summer for a summer study abroad trip. I will be in the city of Reykjavik, Iceland's capitol for 2 weeks, and for 3 weeks I will be spending my time on a horse farm, literally in the middle of no where (the closest thing to the farm is a gas station 2 hours away).

I don't normally do this, but I am asking for your help. During the first 2 weeks in Iceland, while in Reykjavik, I will be supporting myself off of what I already have (my own pocket money). My time at the horse farm is taken care of. While in Rekjavik I will be staying in a hostel, taking public transportation, buying food, visiting museums, looking at art and architecture in the city, really getting to know Rekjavik and the Icelandic culture as a whole as best as I can.

I work hard when I can, even taking on odd jobs like detailing cars and whatever else I can possibly help people with. Unfortunatly this semester has been extremely busy and I cannot work as much as I would like to. As I said, I normally don't do this, I am a firm believer that one should work for their money and their own up bringing, however I was once told that as long as its for a good cause and will someday lead to giving back to the community people will help you reach your goals.

I believe that this trip is going to help me grow as an architect, designer, artist, and over all human being. This experience of immersing myself in a completely new environment and culture will truely expand my current view of the world along with giving me lifelong memories which I can and will share with you all the day I get back.
